Harping the Boston Marathon for Parkinson’s

—by Deborah Henson-Conant

Did you ever wish you could enter a Marathon with your harp, do something you’ve trained your whole life to do, and raise money for something that’s really important to you?

Me, too!!! And that’s what I’ll get to do on MONDAY – “Marathon Monday” as we call it in Boston.

On Monday, I’ll be playing a MARATHON concert via Livestream right from my studio to raise money for Parkinson’s Research – and at the same time, my husband will be running the Boston Marathon to raise money for the same fund.

And all thanks to the Michael J. Fox Foundation and ConcertWindow.com. ConcertWindow.com usually offers livestream ‘LapTop’ Concerts – 30-40 minute concerts we artists can broadcast from our studios (or livingrooms) — but for THIS event, ConcertWindow.com offered to partner with me in giving 100% of the money that comes in to the Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research. This is one thing I LOVE about partnership!!!

I’ll be playing for 5.5 hours – I’m training right now – and you can show up for 5 minutes or 5 hours. We get to chat via a chat window in between tunes and it all raises money to combat a disease that steals the physical dignity from every one of its victims. My husbands mother has Parkinsons – so this project is deeply and personally important to us. At the same time, we’re both working to share our passions in the fight and to make a difference in the most fun way possible.

Come to the show here (you donate by buying a ticket – pay-what-you-want from $1 up):http://bit.ly/MarathonMusicTix

At then end all the ticket money goes to the Michael J Fox Foundation’s “Team Fox” … and I go ice my hands!
