The Hampton Roads Harp Festival (HRHF) has announced required repertoire for its 2026 competition, set to take place Feb. 28, 2026, in Norfolk, Virginia. The preliminary round is via pre-recorded video, due one month before the festival. Finalists will be notified a week after submission, and should prepare to play live at the HRHF. Winners of the junior and senior divisions will receive a certificate from the Festival and a cash prize from Lyon & Healy Harps.
The competition will be held in conjunction with the HRHF’s 10th anniversary festival on February 27–28 at the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. Registration opens soon for the festival, which includes workshops, masterclasses, and performances open to all ages, styles, and levels.

Grades 8 and below
- Free choice repertoire: two pieces in contrasting styles, demonstrating the entrant’s technique and musicality (suggested difficulty level: Épices by Bernard Andrès)
Junior Division (Grades 10 and below)
- One free choice work
- Choose one of the following:
- The King’s Hunt by John Bull, arr. Marcel Grandjany
- Any etude from Bach-Grandjany Etudes for Harp selected from Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Unaccompanied Violin, transcribed by Marcel Grandjany
Senior Division (Grades 12 and below)
- One free choice work
- Choose one of the following:
- Essence of Ruby by Brandee Younger
- Absidioles by Bernard Andrès
