The music school Glasbena Matica is organizing the first edition of the International Harp Competition “Adriatic.” According to its website, the aim of the contest is to promote musical culture and bring music and music studies closer to young people.
The competition is open to harpists of all nationalities up to the age of 25, and will take place March 7–9, 2025, in Trieste, Italy. Applications are due Feb. 1, 2025. The competition is divided into six categories by age, with the youngest category subdivided into Celtic and pedal harps. The competitor who achieves the highest score in each category (with at least 95 points) will receive prizes, including gift certificates for music supplies and sheet music. Repertoire consists of a free choice program within a given time limit, which must include one required piece chosen from a list of pieces for each category.
