After winning two orchestral auditions in October 2024, Carla Fabris is the new principal harpist of the New Mexico Philharmonic and the Santa Fe Symphony. She began her new positions in December 2024. “I am absolutely thrilled to have won these two principal harp positions,” Fabris says. “I am so excited to be able to continue making music in the Southwest!”

A Swiss-American harpist, Fabris is an active performer of orchestral, solo, and chamber music, as well as a music educator. As a performing artist, she has played with a wide range of groups including the Tucson Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony. In the fall of 2022, Fabris joined the faculty at the University of Arizona School of Music, where she teaches harp and directs the HarpFusion ensemble. As part of the Tucson harp community, Fabris has served as president of the local American Harp Society chapter since 2021. Fabris began her harp studies with Dulcie Dimmette Barlow in New York City. She received a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Lynne Aspnes and Joan Holland. She received her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory, where she studied with Doug Rioth.
