Estonian National Symphony Orchestra announces principal harp opening

The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester, ERSO) has announced an opening for principal harpist. The position is full time, set to begin immediately. The audition will be held in three rounds: the video audition round, the stage round, and the orchestral round. Applicants must submit an application and CV, with links to video recordings of required excerpts, by email to audition@erso.ee by Nov. 29. After the audition committee’s initial review of the video round, selected candidates will be invited to the stage round by Dec. 5. The stage round will be held Jan. 23, 2023, at the Estonia Concert Hall.

Following the stage round, up to three candidates will be asked to participate in rehearsals and performances for up to three concerts by the ERSO. The winner of the audition will be announced after this orchestral round.

The recipient of a Grammy Award for its recording of cantatas by Sibelius, the ERSO’s home venue is the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. Olari Elts has served as the orchestra’s Chief Conductor and Artistic Director since the 2020/21 season. Neeme Järvi, the longest-serving chief conductor of the ERSO, continues his collaboration with the orchestra as its Honorary Artistic Director for Life. The ERSO’s Artistic Adviser is Paavo Järvi.
