Dutch Harp Competition Announces Contestants

Following a preliminary screening round, quarter finalists have been selected for the fourth biennial Dutch Harp Competition, which will take place October 12–16, 2016, in Utrecht in conjunction with the Dutch Harp Festival. Thirty-three harpists will vie for a First Prize of €5,000 along with the competition’s Career Development Program package, which includes concert tours in the Netherlands and Asia and other perks.

Quarter finalists will begin the competition on Oct. 12 with a performance of Luciano Berio’s Sequenza II, along with a free choice selection. A themed, free choice semi-final round will take place on October 14, followed by a final round on October 16 to include Handel’s Concerto in B-flat and a new work composed for the competition.
