Competition Announcement: 2025 Concours Français de la Harpe
July 6, 2024

The Concours Français de la Harpe has announced required repertoire for its 14th edition, to be held Feb. 28–March 2, 2025, in Limoges, France. The annual competition’s 12 repertoire divisions are open to harpists of all nationalities, with no age limit. Harpists can apply to multiple divisions. Applications are due Feb. 7, 2025.

In the Excellence division, competitors must submit video recordings for the preliminary round before Jan. 27, 2025. Competitors in the Excellence division must choose to record either Impromptu, op. 86, by Gabriel Fauré (Ed. Durand) or Variations sur un thème dans un style ancien, op. 30, by Carlos Salzedo (Ed. Leduc). Selected contestants will perform live in Limoges during the final round on March 2. Two pieces are required in the final round: Concertino by Jean-Michel Damase (Ed. Lemoine) and The Moldau by Bedřich Smetana, transcribed by Hans Trnecek (Salvi publications).

Prize sponsors include the Association international des harpistes et des amis de la harpe, Camac, the Instrumentarium (Lyon & Healy/Salvi), and The Harp Store (Budin). The first prize winner of the Excellence division will be invited to three recitals: the opening concert of the next Concours Français de la Harpe, a livestreamed concert at the Instrumentarium in Paris, and a concert as part of the Festival International Harpe en Avesnois. Camac will also offer a 22-string Bardic harp or a gift certificate in the amount of 950 €.
