Program summary

VCU offers music students an opportunity to grow as soloists, chamber/orchestral musicians, future educators or to create a new career in the music field. VCU’s urban environment and close location to downtown Richmond makes it easy to experience all the art community has to offer, including the Richmond Symphony, jazz clubs, historic churches and performance venues. Weekly lessons are offered in 30 or 60 minute increments, depending on one’s major or minor at the University.

Nearly 300 students are enrolled in the VCU Department of Music, where they pursue studies as music educators, instrumental soloists, opera singers, chamber musicians and more. VCU Music has great opportunities for you whether you want to hone your skills on the harp, learn the best techniques for teaching tomorrow’s musicians, collaborate with other great chamber or jazz musicians or make music a foundation or complement for other career goals.
VCU Music presents more than 200 concerts and recitals each year, ranging from student recitals and ensemble concerts to performances by world-renowned artists.
