Lakehead University believes in the importance of creativity and critical thinking in music education. Apart from learning traditional harp repertoire and techniques, students are encouraged to explore new music and develop their skills in transcriptions/arrangements and composition. The instructor also shares her own experience and knowledge in teaching, recording and publishing journals and music.

An active performer, Dr. Teresa Suen-Campbell has performed as a soloist with Sinfonia Toronto, Toronto Concert Orchestra and City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. She has commissioned and premiered numerous works for solo harp, harp and orchestra, and harp and electronics. As an orchestral harpist, she is currently principal harpist of Toronto Concert Orchestra and North Bay Symphony.
An experienced educator, Dr. Suen-Campbell was harp faculty at Carleton University (Ottawa), Chinese University of Hong Kong and Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also taught harp at Northwestern University. She gave a lecture in contemporary harp music at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in UK, and her research articles were published by the World Harp Congress Review, German Harp Society Journal and American Harp Journal. She maintains a vibrant studio in Oakville, ON, and her students have been finalists of AHS National Competition and Young Artist’s Harp Seminar, among other competitions.
Suen-Campbell obtained her Master and Doctor of Music degrees from Northwestern University under the tutelage of Elizabeth Cifani.
