8-NOTE SCALES
—taught by Nicole Brady
You’ll need a solid scale foundation to play the pianistic passages Megan Reeve has adapted for harp in Mozart’s London Sketchbook. In this popular lesson at Harp Column Academy, Nicole Brady teaches both the standard crossunder method for scales, as well as a crossunder technique that is unorthodox in America, but commonly taught in Russia. “I learned how to play this way when I studied in Russia,” Brady says. “One of the things that I’ve found that I love about it is that it increases the hand’s muscle memory of where it’s going… It’s actually faster in the long run.”
