Understanding the roadmap of a new piece will help you learn music more quickly and efficiently. During the Baroque period, musical form became increasingly structured, leading to the development of distinct genres such as the sonata and concerto. Composers like Corelli began to explore and refine these forms, incorporating elements like thematic development and contrast, which laid the groundwork for the more complex structures of the Classical era (which we’ll explore in a few days!).
