Jessica Browning is set to release her new album May 19 on major streaming platforms. Browning says Her Odyssey is about crossing the ocean, healing from childhood trauma, and coming home to herself. “I’ve made a choice to speak openly about my trauma, and a community of friends and colleagues have supported me in doing so,” Browning says. “I’d like other survivors of trauma to know that they, too, are not alone.”
Based on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, Browning is a professional harpist who spends most of her time living on a sailboat with her husband and young son, where she performs online. One of the album’s tracks released as a single, “Whale,” captures an experience in the Azores when a whale swam near her family’s sailboat. In “Whale,” Browning uses binaural leads to create close harmony alternating between the listener’s ears. This concept is linked to EMDR therapy, intended to support neurological processing to recover from trauma. Watch the official music video below.
