The Breton musical group Descofar has released its first full-length album, Chimera, following the 2019 release of its first EP as a trio, Krai. Descofar’s new album is available on Bandcamp.
Descofar began as a collaboration between two Breton harpists, Nikolaz Cadoret and his wife Alice Soria-Cadoret. Percussionist Yvon Molard rounds out the trio, adding an incentive to explore dance music and rhythm, according to Nikolaz Cadoret’s website.
On its website, Descofar describes its style as a blend of the melodic flavor of Breton music, the forcefulness of post-rock, and the rawness of improvisation. Through music that juxtaposes original compositions, traditional themes, and rock culture, the group says it aims to express emotions through musical sound, “the light which shines through the cracks in a fractured world.”
