The BBC Philharmonic has announced an opening for section principal harp. Harpists must apply via Musicalchairs by May 18. Auditions for this full-time, permanent position will be held June 25 and July 28 in the BBC Philharmonic’s studio at MediaCityUK. Shortlisting will be based on redacted CVs, and successful applicants will be contacted on June 1.
The BBC Philharmonic performs a series of concerts at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, in addition to broadcasting concerts on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds from venues across the North of England, annually at the BBC Proms and from its international tours. The orchestra records regularly for the Chandos label and has a catalogue of over 300 discs and digital downloads; it also frequently gives world and UK premieres of new works. The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra’s Chief Conductor is John Storgårds. French conductor Ludovic Morlot is its Associate Artist, while Anna Clyne is its Composer in Association.
