American Harp Society announces 25th National Competition

The 25th American Harp Society (AHS) National Competition will be held May 31–June 4, 2023, at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, California. The competition is open to harpists up to the age of 30 as of June 1, 2023, who are AHS national members and who are citizens of any country in the Americas (North, Central, and South).

The application deadline is April 1, 2023, at 11:59 pm. The online application portal, including video file upload, will be available in early 2023 on the AHS member portal.

Required repertoire for the competition is listed below. There will be monetary awards for winners in all divisions of the competition. For more details, visit the AHS National Competition website.

Junior Division (Maximum age 12 years)

  • C.P.E. Bach, Solfeggio in C minor, H.220 (“Solfeggietto”)
  • Carlos Salzedo, Suite of 8 Dances (choose 3)
  • Choose one:
    • John Thomas, Welsh Melodies for the Harp, vol. 2, no. 13, “Watching the Wheat (Bugeilio’r gwenith gwyn)”

Intermediate I Division (Maximum age 15 years)
