The 2nd International Harp Competition “Ángel Padilla Crespo” has announced the results of its online contest held this spring, in which recorded video submissions serve as the competition performances. In the solo harp category for competitors up to 16 years of age, Maria-Angela Oancea of Romania won first prize, and Lim Hara of Korea won second prize.
In the category for chamber music including harp (with no age limit), the Trio Arioso Furioso (Italy) won first prize. Nguyen Thuy Duong of Vietnam received second prize for her performance of Claude Debussy’s Danses sacrée et profane with piano.
In the category for harp duos, trios, and quartets (with no age limit), Duo Gemelle Palazzolo (Italy) won first prize, and Trio Arpe (Italy) won second prize.
Albarosa Di Lieto (Italy) served as jury president for this year’s competition. Other jury members included Baltazar Juarez (Mexico), Magrufa Mukazhanova (Kazakhstan), Manal Mohei Eldin (Egypt), Gabriela Russo (Argentina), Rahaf Chickani (Syria), and Grazia Bonasia (Italy). Bonasia is an orchestra conductor and composer, and president of the “Opera Zero” Cultural Association of Bari, Italy, which organizes this competition.
