2025 International Harp Competition in Szeged announces repertoire

Competition Announcement: 7th International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary
November 15, 2024

The 7th International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary, will be held Nov. 19–23, 2025, at the Reök Palace. The competition is open to harpists of all nationalities who were born on or after Nov. 24, 1999, and is divided into three age categories. Applications are due Sept. 15, 2025.

The 2025 competition will celebrate two anniversaries: the 150th anniversary of the births of Henriette Renié and Maurice Ravel (both born in 1875), and the 50th anniversary of the passing of Marcel Grandjany (who died in 1975). Their compositions have been included in the required repertoire, alongside works by two Hungarian composers (reflecting the competition’s ongoing mission to support and promote Hungarian music).

Founded by Natalia Gorbunova in 2007, the International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary, is held every three years. “Our competition seeks to uncover emerging talent, inspire participants to explore new artistic horizons, and foster the growth of harp culture in Hungary,” Artistic Director Anastasia Razvalyaeva says.
