I am a 1st year conservatory student planning to write a paper

contrasting the Debussy Danses and Ravel Introduction et

Allegro and the composers’ approaches to writing for the harp.

Does anyone know of any particularly good resources on these

pieces, other than the American Harp Journal?

Hi! I’m sorry that your first response is received 8 years later, but perhaps this info will help someone who’s looking for this through a google search:

    http://etd.library.miami.edu/theses/available/etd-05202008-180658/unrestricted/lchen1sp08.pdf

This is a wonderful dissertation I’ve found on the subject that goes into detail about how each of the harps were constructed, what it was like to play both of them, and their differences in performance capabilities.

Also, any of Roslyn Rensch’s books will be useful, especially Harps & Harpists. I’ve also found a lot of information searching “cross-strung harp” instead of “chromatic harp” in google. Go figure.

    Hope this helps.
