Today’s Tip:
ZONE IN ON RHYTHM
Whether you’re practicing today’s tune—“Swinging” by Maurice Draughn—or any of the music you picked for this year’s challenge, take a minute today to focus on your foundation: rhythm. Are you keeping a clear and steady beat? Start by isolating challenging passages and using a metronome at a slow tempo for accuracy. Clap or tap complicated rhythms away from the harp, or use other body movements like skipping to the dotted-eighth-plus-sixteenth pattern found throughout “Swinging.”
