Zoe Vandermeer provides lessons for beginning to advanced - single strung lever harps, double strung lever harps, cross strung harps, single, double, and triple historical harps. Students learn techniques for playing the harp, repertoire, musicianship, music theory, effective ways to practice, and more. Students can also choose to learn continuo for baroque music, improvisation, and composition. Instruction is also provided for singers who self-accompany, and harpists who accompany singers, instrumentalists, and choirs.
Lessons are primarily online via zoom. In person lessons are given at the studio in West Hartford and at St. Johns Episcopal in Vernon, CT
Zoe Vandermeer is a prize-winning graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, is on the Roster of the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism, and is a member of the American Harp Society, Historical Harp Society and Metro Harps NYC. She has given performances for the Rio International Harp Festival, American Harp Society, Bloomington Early Music Festival, International Festival de Deia Spain, Glasgow International Early Music Festival, Connecticut Early Music Festival, Castle Clinton, Renaissance Center at U Mass., and elsewhere. Her solo Dowland soprano and triple harp recording received a favorable review the UK Lute Society Journal. Zoe Vandermeer was a Quarter-Finalist in the World Harp Competition 2024 featuring her own original compositions for Celtic harp solos and soprano and Celtic harp songs. She received a special citation by the American Prize Competition for her work as a singing harpist. She looks forward to the release of her upcoming baroque soprano and Welsh triple harp album with Centaur Records.
