Victor OrtegaParticipant
Emily, I found your post very inspiring.
Victor OrtegaParticipantI don’t know about titanium, but Camac uses aluminum alloy for the action plates and to connect the column to the soundboard inside the base, and carbon fiber for the column.
Victor OrtegaParticipantMaria, yes, an electromechanical solenoid is an electromagnet.
Victor OrtegaParticipantMaria and Barbara, I think you’re right–it would probably take a company like Camac (who makes both lever and pedal harps, and who “sticks its neck out” with innovations) to pull off such a harp.
Victor OrtegaParticipantMaria, I’ve been thinking about this myself.
Victor OrtegaParticipantBarbara, I think you are taking what I’m saying way beyond my intentions.
Victor OrtegaParticipantBut Barbara, pedal harps don’t have to be huge.
Victor OrtegaParticipantBarbara, it’s just economy of scale–the fewer pedal harps that are produced, the higher the per-unit production (and distribution) cost.
Victor OrtegaParticipantAbsolutely.
Victor OrtegaParticipantI found a video on tying harp string knots on harpconnection.com:
http://www.harpconnection.com/movies/KnotTie.html
It shows the typical two-loop (one through the other) approach, the same as on the “Fun From the First!” booklet and on that other URL I posted.
Victor OrtegaParticipantThe booklet “Fun From the First!” volume I by Sam Milligan has a page on tying the knots on harp strings.
Victor OrtegaParticipantLeopold Auer is held to be one of the greatest violin performers and teachers ever.
Victor OrtegaParticipantHey Shannon: I am also a mathematician of sorts (I have a degree in Math/Computer Science and do computational programming), so I completely understand working out such things!
Victor OrtegaParticipantGreat question.
Victor OrtegaParticipantConnie, I suggest asking the publisher to correct the mistake and replace all the misprinted sheet music with corrected music; you (or the church) would then either send back to the publisher the misprinted sheet music, or destroy it, according to what the publisher wants done with the misprints.
