The discussion re: the problems related to the sweetharp delivery and the issue of poor communication by Chris Caswell was tabled by the moderator of the virtual harp circle. Laurie Riley offered to mediate between customers and Chris. The VHC will only post info on this subject through Laurie. Chris has been in contact with her. I have no idea what “mediate” means in this situation I have emailed and stated I expect the full amount due me. If you are interested in pursuing this avenue you can email Laurie at.laurie.riley689@gmail.com.

Laurie is well respected as a teacher and performer. She has known Chris apparently for years. You will have to reach your own conclusions as to objectivity and personal bias. This is posted as an FYI to keep everyone up to date on the issues related to the sweetharp. .

For anyone who is interested, you can file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the California Attorney General online. Both sites have consumer complaint forms. I certainly would never have ordered a harp from Caswell Harps if there had been multiple complaints filed previously. Perhaps the time has come for the many harpists who are unhappy with this whole experience to take action.

I have been waiting for 3 months for the refund promised when I canceled my order for a sweetharp. I had waited more than a year for the order to be fulfilled and delivered.

As has been discussed in this forum previously, Chris Caswell may design extraordinary instruments but his business practices and customer service are terrible. In the hopes of concluding this wretched experience with Caswell Harps I have filed complaints with both the Better Business Bureau of Northern California and the California Attorney General. He has had use of my money long enough.

Good luck, Biagio on the refund by the 13th. After much frustration, I did throw in the towel and cancel my sweetharp order. Chris indicated he would refund my money. That was the end of May. He did finally respond to multiple emails stating he would work on the refund but that illness had made money “tight”. I have received no money and have heard nothing further.

I plan to give him until the end of July and then initiate complaints with the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. Legal action is certainly a possibility.

Payments for the harp, case, and accessories were always made promptly. I expected to be treated in a like manner. So far that hasn’t been the case. I wonder how many customers are experiencing similar issues with this maker?

You might be interested in the posts on the sweetharp in the coffee break forum. Chris Caswell also has a Facebook page which might answer some of your questions.

It would seem that people who post receive their harps faster than the rest of the world. I have been waiting almost a year fo my SweetHarp and have suffered the same poor communication as Barb,Julie and Amber. I even have an email that states I was 13th on the list. Of course, Chris Caswell has been paid not only for the harp but the case as well.

I am really frustrated. My last email is unanswered. My harp was supposed to be in progress 3 weeks ago. Any suggestions? I am truly sorry that I ordered from this maker.

It seems that there will be a 36 string SweetHarp unveiled at Somerset. I wonder if 6 more strings will translate into 6 additional months of waiting.

I too have been waiting 9 months for my SweetHarp. It is disappointing to read that the finished product may not be what I expected. The long delay in production makes me wonder if there are still design issues being worked out.

Thank you Amber for your comments. You covered many of the issues in question.
