Hi all – happy to find this thread; I received a subscription to Harp Column yesterday for my birthday so was just browsing old forums to get a sense of if like minded folks were here… viola!
In addition to being new to this group I am also new to the harp. I just started harp lessons 3 months ago. I’m in my late 30s and was looking to try something I’d always been curious about. So I’m very new to the harp and am enjoying the learning process. It’s been a challenge to take up something new, be far from a natural, and balance a new job and its demands. I do my best to practice for 15-30 minutes every day. If I don’t make it happen I remind myself not to be hard on myself. Also I think as an adult learner I have released the feeling of obligation to my teacher–I’m paying her to teach me, and if I fall behind in lessons I still pay her to teach me. Sometimes that means going over a few measures 5 times in my lesson, but any little bit I can glean I’m grateful for.
Love reading about how you all balance your work and harp life, I’m looking forward to learning from all of you!
