ParticipantThanks, Biagio for all the harp strings information. I live in the San Francisco peninsula but I guess it doesn’t matter if I order online.

ParticipantWill one of your harp covers fit the newly-designed Caswell Sweetharp? Chris Caswell has no idea when all the Sweetharp cases his customers, me included, have prepaid for will be made. I am located in the US near San Francisco.
Thanks.

ParticipantChris finally emailed me back stating that the cases shown on his updated website that DO fit the Sweetharp were made early and were the only FEW that fit.
He still doesn’t state when the cases that fit will be ready (if they ever will be.) Hmmnnn, do we know of any other retailer who makes cases to fit the newly-designed Sweetharp? Do you think I will be in my sixties, or possibly seventies, and God forbid, eighties when (and IF!!!!) the new cases ever materialize? Stay tuned…(for more frustration).

ParticipantThank you, Biagio for the info about the strings. Do you know any peninsula harp retailers I could go to for having strings put on my Sweetharp?

ParticipantCorrect my received date to mid-March, 2012. Sorry ’bout that!

ParticipantWhy do you show the correct-sized case on your updated website if you don’t have any in stock? Do you have an exact time-frame?

ParticipantI ordered my very first ever Sweetharp in May, 2011 and didn’t receive it till middle May, 2012 after lots of excuses — floods, lack of parts, back problems, etc. whenever Chris did take the time to reply to my many queries. Actually, the only time he replied was when I contacted the Better Business Bureau then he couldn’t be kind enough!
I also ordered and paid for the Sweetharp case in advance and when I received it, it clearly wasn’t made large enough to fit completely over my Sweetharp as Chris couldn’t even get the zipper closed and told me the woman he had making the cases didn’t get the correct specifics and he would have her remake them over again and I would get one when they were finished.
It’s July now and I still have the wrong-sized case. And Chris hasn’t responded to me. What a surprise — NOT!
Buying a Sweetharp from Chris has NOT been a sweet experience. The dye wasn’t sealed correctly and comes off in my hands after carrying it to the next room. A string has broken twice and is difficult to put it back on correctly.
I have no faith in Chris Caswell and think he should hire a business manager or someone to conduct the business as I have no desire in ever buying another Caswell harp because of his lack of quality customer service.
Life’s short — I’d rather enjoy it than get frustrated all the time by his lack of work ethics!

ParticipantHi Barbara and Sweetharpers,
I jumped for joy when Chris actually answered my email about when I’d get the harp I ordered last May and paid completely for beginning of February. He said he’d be in my neck of the woods on Sunday and could he deliver it then?Julie Jones
ParticipantThanks Barbara for responding to my post. I called Chris at the beginning of last week ( after calling him several times throughout the year since I placed my order) and he said he had a bad cough (a bad cough shouldn’t affect his email usage) but I would be contacted by him by the end of last week (“at the latest!”) but of course, I didn’t hold my breath because if I did I would have suffocated.
You are right about his extremely poor customer service and lack of communication. I will definitely NOT recommend him to anyone wishing to buy a harp. MY previous call to him to ask about the status of my order, I suggested to him that he seriously should hire a secretary or someone who can call his customers on a regular basis to keep them updated on his progress. He laughed and said that would be a great idea.
At this point,

ParticipantI ordered a Sweetharp last May from Chris Caswell and STILL have not received it. I’ve paid in full at the beginning of February, as well as paying for a case. Every time I call him, as he sends very general email posts about 3 times a year, if that many, he gives me a different excuse and I’m about ready to take him to small claims court.
I’ve never owned a harp before. The only kind of harp I’ve ever owned is an autoharp which is quite different. Last May when I saw his video for the new Sweetharp and easy to play it looked, and the low price, I decided to purchase one and got all excited, told my friends and really looked forward to getting it as a Christmas present to myself. No? Not ready last year? Okay then, a February birthday present for me! Not ready? In two months it will be a year and will I actually have it in my hands yet? Do I even want it anymore? What if something goes wrong with it? Am I s^^t out of luck or will Chris actually service it?
