ParticipantHester, I’m from San Francisco and go to the Harp Festival most years. All I can say is with advice on what not to purchase due to problems with the instrument, you need to pick the one that “speaks to you.” It’s a matter of personal preference for sound. DO get someone – or two different people – to play while you stand back and listen. I have played all sorts of harps in Scotland over the years as I don’t take my own over (Dusty 36) and frankly don’t see much difference in gut vs. nylon – except sound. Would love to meet you there. Sharon Affeltranger. You can ask most anyone as I know a lot of the people there.

ParticipantHave a Mercedes – for some years. Harp loads o.k. but watch out for service costs. Although it’s been reliable, the cost of service and general upkeep is at least twice that of any other car we’ve owned (Ford Explorer, Mazda 5, etc.)

ParticipantThank you. Your comments are helpful. Never thought of the “stabilization issue” but feel I could deal with it. Sharon
