    ‘Not sure how to edit my above post; I did not mean lateral tension, I meant longitudinal.

    BTW, as far as I can tell, the purpose of those tension rods is primarily to reduce the lateral tension on the soundboard, allowing it to resonate (longitudinally) at a lower frequency.

    I also recently got a Ravenna 34 and agree that there is an overabundance of sustain in the low octave.
