We encourage students to explore avenues of making music, other than orchestral playing and solo recitals. Harpists who are versatile in many styles have more opportunities to work as professional musicians. The world of the freelance harpist requires many skills. Detroit jazz harpist, Rizpah, said that, as classical harpists, we live in a harp bubble. We don’t learn the skills we need to adapt to the real world. To prosper, we need to break out of this harp bubble. Photos from Past New Orleans Jazz Pop Harp Weekends.
