The tune was published in <em>English Country Songs<\/em> (1893), an anthology compiled by Lucy E. Broadwood and J. A. Fuller Maitland. It bears a striking resemblance to the Irish tune \u201cStar of the County Down,\u201d of which \u201cKingsfold\u201d is likely a variant (or vice-versa). After having heard the tune in Kingsfold, Sussex, England (thus its name), Ralph Vaughan Williams introduced it as a hymn tune in <em>The English Hymnal<\/em> (1906) as a setting for Horatius Bonar&#8217;s text, &#8220;I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say.&#8221; The cover photo is of a parish church in Sussex.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rhett Barnwell&#8217;s &#8220;Kingsfold,&#8221; for three lever or pedal harps, is an arrangement of a classic Anglican hymn, which is also a variant of the Irish tune &#8220;Star of the County Down.&#8221; It is a multi-level piece ranging from beginner to advanced intermediate players.
