His songs about the \u201cLoreley\u201d and the \u201cLinden Tree\u201d are indispensable treasures of German culture. And this is why I chose to arrange these songs for contemporary &#8220;easy listening.&#8221; Some purist traditionalists may disapprove: I nevertheless believe that it bespeaks the timeless quality of these songs that that a modern attire will suit them well. A quotation from the German National Anthem, using slightly off-centre jazz chords towards the end of the piece, tops of this musical capriccio.
