This particular lullaby is from Iran’s capital, Tehran, and occurs in Sima Bina’s famous collection of Persian lullabies. The word “lala” is used to hush a baby to sleep. To enhance the lullaby’s gentle character, I incorporated harpy runs and ornamentations, creating a dreamy and mystical atmosphere. The lyrics were added as an interpretive suggestion to give a sense of the song. You may sing them at any point if you wish, but the piece also works beautifully without. For an authentic performance, please refer to recordings by native speakers.
