Robert Burns wrote the lyrics in 1791 with the daughter of a family friend in mind. The song describes the beauty of the plants and flowers in the early morning dew. The rosebud is a metaphor for the young girl. &#8220;So thou sweet Rosebud young and gay; Shalt beauteous blaze upon the day; And bless the Parent&#8217;s evening ray; That watch&#8217;d thy early morning.&#8221; It is a lovely, gentle piece with a lilting and warm feel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Frances M.
