Maerz explains, &#8220;The story tells of two lovers separated by a river. The girl pleads to the moon to deliver her calls and yearning to her lover. The song is a wonderful example of the great beauty and expressiveness found in many folk songs.&#8221; This version is a simplified arrangement intended for youth ensembles.
