New Artists on HCM!

We are happy to welcome four new artists to Harp Column Music! Please say hello to (from left) Nadia Birkenstock, Kim Robertson, Marcia Dickstein, and Daniele Garella.

About Nadia

first-snow-coverNadia Birkenstock is a harpist, singer and composer based in Germany and in France. She joins HCM with “First Snow,” an original composition great for the holidays or any time. Nadia is mostly known for her creative and varied song arrangements and evocative instrumental compositions. She has released numerous CDs and tours and teaches internationally. Musical collaborations have lead to various expanded arrangements of her songs, including celtic harp and voice with string quartet or four part choir. Look for more from Nadia coming soon!

About Kim

Kim Robertson hardly needs an introduction in the harp world! The renowned performer, recording artist, and arranger has stretched the boundaries of the harp for a new generation of performers and audiences with favorites like “Shenandoah.” As a pioneer in the American folk harp movement, she combines an improvisational spirit with a passionate sense of tradition, bringing a contemporary touch to a centuries-old instrument. Kim is also a master teacher at Harp Column Academy. We are thrilled to offer her downloads!

About Marcia

As founder and artistic director of the Debussy Trio ensemble, Marcia Dickstein is also a skilled arranger and the face behind Fatrock Ink, the harp music publisher that has inspired composers to write new works in classical and jazz genres. Marcia’s transcriptions and scholarly editions of solo and chamber music for professional and student harpists, like her Occasional collection, are a welcome addition on Harp Column Music! Marica is an Adjunct Professor of Harp at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Westmont College, Santa Barbara, and maintains a private studio in Los Angeles. We are looking forward to uploading more of her publications soon!

Daniele Garella

Daniele Garella joins Harp Column Music with original compositions for harp trio and harp solo, like his Fairy Garden collection of 16 inspirational tunes based on flowers. Garella is a composer, pianist, writer, and artistic director from Florence, Italy. He received diplomas in composition and choral conducting from the Conservatory Luigi Cherubini and also a degree in modern literature from Florence University; he is also a professor of music history. Daniele is also the Art director of Musica in Villa, a festival of music, dance, theatre, held in the area of Florence in a number of historical Villas. Daniele is a member of the jury of the Italian international Harp Contest (Saluzzo).
