Serena O’Meara’s arrangement of the traditional Irish melody “The Black Velvet Band” is for lever or pedal harp and any of the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet in B-flat, alto saxophone, violin, viola, or cello. The harp plays accompaniment on two verses and melody on the other two verses. The ballad tells the tale of how an Irish lad is tricked by his lover and then sentenced to seven years penal servitude.
