Notes from the composer
This is my first original piece for harp. I chose to write it in a romantic style, and in ballade form: a free beginning, A theme, B theme and developmental section, then the return of A. The title, Intrecciate, means “intertwined” in Italian. This is a love story of sorts, set in Venice. The A theme introduces the man, whose song in D minor expresses his loneliness. The B theme represents the woman, whose theme, while in D major, is still incomplete. She realizes she, too, is lonely. Of course the two meet, and their two opening motives timidly answer back and forth until finally, joyfully, their themes intertwine—and they live happily ever after. 🙂
