Andy Scott’s three-movement Sonata for Flute and Harp, is for flute and pedal harp (and has also been arranged by the composer for alto saxophone and pedal harp). Influenced by Eastern European folk rhythms and jazz harmony, the writing calls for extended techniques and timbres, including using the harp as a percussion instrument to create rhythmic intensity.
