My two most recent students both won full scholarships at two major conservatories. I make harp playing simple, easy and expressive. I have successfully corrected severe tendonitis in just several weeks. I have been told that I am extremely supportive and kind. I teach orchestral playing, solo playing, concertos and chamber music. I trained with Lucile Lawrence, Alice Chalifoux, Lynne Aspnes and Kathy Kienzle. I am located near the Curtis Institute of Music. I conduct private lessons weekly, 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours in length depending on the student's needs. I also give group classes. Lessons are pre-paid. I have a Lyon-Healy Style 23 and an Ogden lever harp for teaching.
I emphasize efficient, elegant, economical technique that is allied with musical expression. I cover all periods and styles of music. I am able to quickly correct technical problems, including causes of tendonitis. I develop strength and facility quickly, and have a broad knowledge of all the repertoire for harp. I teach sight-reading, reading skills, and teaching skills. I coach professional harpists as well as students. I have helped students auditioning for the Curtis Institute. I have also coached students at the Curtis Institute of Music. I have given several master classes, held a residency at Macalester College, and served as founder/director of HarpMusicFest: the International Harp Festival of Philadelphia, the first festival (and only) to solely focus on classical harp.
