Teaching harp is my passion. I enjoy teaching students from very young children to aspiring professionals to adult beginners. With a background in both traditional and Suzuki methods of teaching, I approach each student as the unique individual they are and nurture their personal learning style.
My experience includes several years of college teaching as a former faculty member of University of Virginia, University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University as well as presenting master classes throughout the country including seminars at University of Michigan, Arizona State University, and Peabody Conservatory Preparatory Division.
I offer private lessons in piano and harp for students of all ages, 5 to 70+. I teach out of my home studio in Petersburg, Virginia, as well as in students’ homes, at the Virginia Harp Center, and at VCU in Richmond, Virginia. I have taught children as young as 5 and as young-at-heart as 75. Keyboard and/or English reading experience is preferred prior to starting harp lessons, but is not always essential.
Grace Bauson is currently accepting students in Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Harrisonburg, Virginia. As adjunct instructor of harp at James Madison University, the University of Mary Washington, and Southern Virginia University, as well as a past faculty member at the American Youth Harp Ensemble, Grace has experience with all levels of students. Her favorite summertime activity is teaching at the Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program.
