More Information

The major program in music includes intensive study in theory, history, and performance. As in all liberal arts programs, the emphasis is on broad coverage rather than specialization, although specialization is possible through careful selection of elective courses, independent study projects, and internships. The objectives of the major program in music involve preparing students for graduate study as well as for careers in the performing arts, public school teaching, and many other areas.
