Located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Lakehead University provides a comprehensive music program in a supportive learning environment.It has a long association with Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, which provides outstanding mentorship opportunities for students.
Harp studies include weekly lessons, studio classes, guest artist masterclasses, and chamber ensembles. The program gives qual emphasis on solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire.
Lessons will be conducted both online and in-person.
Lakehead University believes in creativity and critical thinking. Students are encouraged to perform new music, working with composers and developing their skills in transcriptions and arrangements. The instructor is also dedicated in helping students reach their goals and create their unique career paths.
An experienced educator, Dr. Suen-Campbell maintains a vibrant studio in Oakville and was harp faculty at Carleton University in Ottawa, Chinese University of Hong Kong and Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra respectively. She also taught harp at Northwestern University. She started teaching online in 2012. Many of her students have won top prizes in music festivals and competitions.
An active performer, Suen-Campbell has commissioned numerous works for solo harp, harp and orchestra, and harp and electronics. She has performed as a soloist with Toronto Concert Orchestra and the Kindred Spirits Orchestra, and performs regularly with North Bay Symphony. She was principal harpist of City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong prior to her relocation to Canada.
Suen-Campbell obtained her Master and Doctor of Music degrees from Northwestern University under the tutelage of Elizabeth Cifani.
