A few months ago, I played an outdoor wedding ceremony at a country club. The client was evasive about the number of guests, but with 20-plus people in the wedding party, I knew this was not going to follow the 50-person guideline in place at the time.

I explained to the client and the country club that I needed to be socially distanced. The ceremony was in a tent, and I set up right outside the club, so that I was at least 50 feet from the entrance of the tent. (I play an electric harp, which makes these type of functions very manageable.) Boy, was I glad I made the decision to distance myself from the guests. A few days after the wedding, I got an email from the bride’s father thanking me for my lovely music and letting me know that I had been exposed to a potential super-spreader event. Several of the 220 guests tested positive a few days after the wedding.
